Spiced Valentine's Day Tonic Wine

Making tonic wines is a traditional method, popular in some regions of China and Europe, of preparing, preserving, and using tonic--and other medicinal--herbs. This recipe produces both a powerful tonic as well as a delicious spiced wine. You can take this daily in small half glass doses, or have a full glass or two on special occasions. If your Valentine's Day is cold like they are here in the North East, you can heat this wine over extremely low heat, being careful not to boil the alcohol out. Warm, spiced wines are traditional in their own accord.
Making the Wine
One bottle organic wine (or other wine like alcohol);
2 Smaller Ginseng Roots (not rootlets);
1/4 Ounce Star Anise;
1/4 Ounce Astragalus Root Powder;
1/4 Ounce Damiana;
1/4 Ounce Green Cardamon Seed Pods;
1/2 Ounce Goji Berry;
1/8 Ounce Schizandra Berry;
1 Tablespoon Dried Orange Peel
Now follow these super simple steps. Combine Herbs and Wine in a large glass container. Let sit two weeks. Strain and add wine back to the original wine bottle. Add in the ginseng roots and discard other herbs. Drink one glass once a week, or 1 tablespoon daily.
If you are in a rush and do not have two weeks (or more) to wait. You can speed the process up by combining the herbs and the wine in a glass pot, heating slowly over low heat. Careful not to boil the alcohol off. This method will help speed the process of extraction up, and you can even do this the same day that you want to consume this spiced Valentine's Day tonic wine.
