How to Make a (STRONG) Winter Yang Tea

Winter is upon us here in Western Maine. Last night it hit -20 degrees. In the spirit of finding warmth, and fueling our fires, we at RAW Forest Foods share with you our (current) favorite hot tonic tea.

This is a favorite tonic brew for restoring lost Yang essence during those long and cold winter months. It is A (STRONG) Yang Winter Tea, so it needs to be used with caution as to not promote or exacerbate Yang Excess. The herbs are common and commonly available, and produce a truly gourmet tonic tea.

Recipe:

One Part Herbs (1tsp): Licorice Root, Orange Peel, Sarsaparilla Root, Panax (Chinese) Ginseng Root.

Two Part Herbs (2tsps): Sassafras Root Bark, Ginger Root, Marshmallow, Cinnamon Root.

Add herbs to 3/4 quart water (preferably spring) and let sit for one hour. Heat and simmer for a few minutes, strain, and enjoy!
