An Overview of the Formula

TapRoot Deep Jing is the antidote to much of the Band-Aid approach taken in herbalism where stimulating herbs are used to provide enhanced energy, an effect that is short lived and only worsens the original state.

We have noticed patterns emerge where overwork, stress, and/or illness result in symptoms of low energy and lack of drive/desire, premature aging, andropause (low testosterone), and loss of vitality, which leads people towards herbs and supplements that promise renewed vigor (such as maca root, ashwagandha, Chinese Ginseng, and other adaptogens) but which ultimately only exacerbate and worsen those original symptoms.

Utilizing Classic and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we developed TapRoot Deep Jing to first clear the root of those symptoms while restoring innate vitality. In this way, we are able to avoid the use of stimulating herbs that only prop-up weakened health and instead offer restorative, renewed wellness.

TapRoot Deep Jing works to clear Heat (more on this below) and to replenish Yuan Qi and Jing, the source of youthfulness, longevity, drive, and purpose. And, in doing so, TapRoot Deep Jing promotes a restorative approach to energy and wellness and helps stop premature age-related degeneration.

The Ingredients - Brief Information

Codonopsis pilosula (Dang Shen) Extract (10:1)

Codonopsis is a classic restorative and strengthening adaptogen (but not stimulating). Codonopsis may help increase the body's own ability to manage stress, leading to renewed wellness.

Goji berry (Lycium barbarum) Extract (30% Polysaccharides)

While Goji Berries are a popular superfood, used correctly they are a very important and restorative herb in Chinese Medicine. In Chinese medicine, Goji Berry is used to tonify Kidney and Liver Yin. Restoring Yin is especially important in people who are suffering from overwork, burnout, and premature aging, where Yin becomes deficient to almost nonexistent. Goji Berry restores Yin, which is the nutrient, substantive element of the body, the protector of the Qi, and the fuel to the fire of the Yang.

Glossy Privet (Ligustrum lucidum) Extract (10:1)

A very important herb used to clear heat in the body (learn more about heat below), which allows restored health and innate wellness to be revealed. Additionally, Glossy Privet replenishes and builds both Qi and Jing.

Dodder Seed (Tu Si Zi, Cuscuta chinensis) Extract (10:1)

Dodder Seed is a special and unique seed because it is a very strong Jing tonic, but it is also cooling (again, helping to clear heat). Dodder Seed offers our customers an almost tailor-made herb for their needs: A specific deep Jing restorative while remedying issues of Heat.

Atractylodis macrocephalae (Bai Zhu) Extract (10:1)

Invigorates Qi and strengthens Spleen. Deficiency in Spleen leads to premature aging, including the skin, and poor digestion, and by strengthening Spleen Qi, the other herbs in the formula become more effective.

Fructus psoraleae (Bu Gu Zhi) Extract (10:1)

Similar to Dodder Seed, Fructus psoraleae helps in restoring Kidney Qi (Yuan Qi) and Jing. A particularly adept herb for inclusion in TapRoot Deep Jing Formula and a particularly adept herb for the RAW Forest Foods customer.

The Importance of Clearing Heat To Restore Qi and Jing

In certain schools of thought in Chinese Medicine, it is understood that the majority of illness is caused by Heat (the Wen Bing Xiu School of Heat). Interpolating Chinese medicine and Western, allopathic medicine, Heat, and inflammation are almost completely synonymous.

In the school Wen Bing Xiu school of heat, living a life of excess (work, stress, exercise, food, drink, et cetera) leads to excess Heat, which causes a myriad of illness and disease. Part of how Heat causes illness is depleted the Yin of the body. To restore wellness, both the excess Heat and the deficient Yin need to be addressed.

In observing the common symptoms overworked, being worn out, and feelings of premature aging, lacking motivation and desire, and the like, there emerges a common theme and pattern of Excess Heat and deficient Yin. In the West, our lifestyles almost always lead to excess, whether that be excess socializing, work, exercise, consumerism, and others. Here, we are valuing Yang (the rising, outward energy) over the Yin (the condensing, inward energy). This is the mentality of more is better, and while it may be the status quo and while it may feel good in the short run, eventually living in excess leads to pathology.

Over time these excesses lead us to—sometimes extreme—burnout. We can no longer keep up with the life and the lifestyle we have been living. Stimulants such as coffee no longer help, and might even exacerbate and worsen feelings of tiredness. Fortunately, Chinese medicine offers effective strategies to clear Heat and to restore deficient Yin—the very goal of the TapRoot Deep Jing Formula.

In working very closely with our customers over, we have been able to develop a unique vantage point in observing these patterns, and as energy being to falter, people tend to look for the more stimulating, Yang herbs, including Deer Antler, Maca Root, Chinese Ginseng, and others (we find Pine Pollen to be a cooling adaptogen)—in short, any herb that seems to possess those attributes we find absent or fading from our lives. While these are all highly beneficial herbs, they are hot in nature, promoting heat, and not be the best choice to restore and replenish. When people that have excess Heat take these herbs, they may feel better for a limited amount of time, but eventually the warming nature of these will only worsen the condition, making the person feel even more worn out than before.

TapRoot is our answer. While it may seem contradictory at first, the best way to regain those qualities is not necessary to supplement with herbs that promote them but to clear excess Heat while building the body with nutrients (Yin) for resorting Qi and Jing. TapRoot is a cooling formula for deep Qi and Jing restoration. All herbs in the formula are organically grown or are ecologically wild crafted, and are 10:1 hot water extracts (with the exception of Goji Berry, which is a standardized 30% polysaccharide extract).

TapRoot helps to clear the excess heat from the body, finding balance, replenishing with vitality.

The Ingredients - In-Depth Information

Dang Shen Extract (10:1 Concentration)

From Codonopsis pilosula

Dang Shen Codonopsis pilosula Extract

Codonopsis pilosula, known in Chinese medicine as Dang Shen, has similar properties as Chinese Ginseng but does not contribute to heat conditions (such as overwork) as Chinese Ginseng does. In this way, Dang Shen is a strengthening adaptogenic tonic that is more appropriate (than Chinese Ginseng, which can further exhaust people) for Western men and women. Dang Shen is not part of the botanical Ginseng formula.

The suffix “Shen” on Dang Shen, as seen in Chinese Ginseng (who's Chinese name is Ren Shen), specifically refers to the plant’s ability to non-specifically enhance and regulate the body's ability to withstand stress—in other words, the plant’s adaptogenic qualities. By increasing the body's ability to handle stress, stress is lowered and wellness is promoted. Adaptogens help mitigates the stress in life that cannot otherwise be eliminated.

In addition to increasing the stress-threshold, adaptogens have far-reaching endocrine reparative and restorative effects, reducing the stress response and increasing overall strength and adaptability--qualities we all desire and which are integral in increasing vitality. As many know, overstress, and the subsequent conditions it results in, leads to widespread lack of strength (physically, mentally, sexually), and often results in many of the conditions people think of in terms of low testosterone. Codonopsis may help to eliminate those conditions.

Within Chinese medicine, Codonopsis is believed to benefit the entire body through boosting strength, increasing stamina and alertness, rejuvenating the body, strengthening the immune system, aiding recovery from chronic illness, reducing stress, and stimulating the appetite.

We include Dang Shen in our TapRoot formula because of its ability to promote the health endocrine systems of those who are "burnt out," helping to manage stress and to lower the stress response, and otherwise build strength and vitality throughout the body.

Goji Berry Extract (Standardized 30% Polysaccharides)

Also known as Wolfberry and Gou Qi Zi, from Lycium barbarum

Goji Berry Wolfberry Lycium barbarum Extract

Goji Berries are no stranger to the health food, raw food, and longevity community, and for good reason: they are a potent tonifier of the whole body, and a delicious snack. But their popularity comes with the detriment that people often forget that they are a strong, important medicine (possibly too strong to be used with such popularity).

Goji Berries tonify Kidney and Liver Yin, which depletes as age, undergo undue stress, and as illness takes root in the body, where it weakens the entire system. Depleted Kidney and Liver Yin may manifest as premature grey hair, infertility, soreness and weakness in the lower back and/or knees, diabetes, dizziness, blurry vision, night sweats, and poor or worsening eyesight. Many of these symptoms probably sound familiar as part of the normal aging process but have much more to do with illness than with aging.

We have included this strong Goji Berry extract in our TapRoot formula because of our observations of symptoms of reduced Kidney and Liver yin in so many people, and because we believe that Goji Berry will help restore and alleviate the associated conditions of low Kidney and Liver Yin.

As Kidney Yin is restored, excess Qi can be stored as Jing, and people can restore their sense of vitality.

Goji Berries are moderately warming to the body, but their heat is balanced within this formula.

Dodder Seed Extract (10:1 Concentration)

Also known as Tu Si Zi, from Cuscuta chinensis

cuscuta seed dodder seed extract

Cuscuta seed, also known as Dodder Seed and Tu Si Zi in Chinese, is a Kidney and Jing tonic. Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cuscuta Seeds are considered to be a superior anti-aging herb and are used in vitality tonics to support the male reproductive system.

Cuscuta is a cooling Kidney tonic, treating Kidney deficiency and restoring depleted Jing. As a vitality tonic, Cuscuta is used to reverse many age-related symptoms, including improving vision, building bone marrow and red blood cell count, the general strengthening of sexual function in men and women, lower back pain, and tinnitus (chronic ear ringing), and leucorrhea in women.
Cuscuta has specific applications for the male reproductive system and is used for increasing sperm quality and quantity, and to relieve impotence and frequent urination (in both men and women).

Kidney deficiency may exhibit in symptoms of dizziness, blurred vision, fatigue, lack of libido, chronic lower back problems, loss of head hair, weak bones, lack of flexibility, and ringing in the ears.

While many Kidney tonics and Jing builders exacerbate heat conditions, only making symptoms worse in the long run, Cuscuta is a cooling tonic, balancing conditions of excess heat and harmonizing the warming herbs in the TapRoot formula.

We include Cuscuta seed in our TapRoot formula for its unique ability to restore Jing while clearing heat.

Glossy Privet Extract (10:1 Concentration)

From Ligustrum lucidum

Glossy Privet Ligustrum lucidum Extract

Glossy Privet (Ligustrum lucidum), known in Chinese medicine as Nu Zhen Zi, is a cooling Kidney and Liver tonic and is especially useful in building Qi and Jing while clearing heat—specifically beneficial for many RAW Forest Foods’ customers.

Traditionally, Glossy Private is used to strengthening the teeth, the lower back, and knees, relieving pain and soreness in the lower back and knees. Additionally, it has been used within Chinese Herbal Medicine to relieve constipation, tinnitus, and dizziness, all of which are symptoms of Liver and Kidney deficiency.

Glossy Privet is particularly prized among Chinese herbalists for its use in promoting hair growth and darkening of greying hair, though as a disclaimer there is no scientific information in support of these claims.

Bai Zhu Extract (10:1 Concentration)

From Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae

Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae Bai Zhu Extract

Bai Zhu builds Qi of the Stomach and the Spleen, which causes premature aging when deficient or weak. In Chinese medicine, Bai Zhu is known as “The First Herb of Invigorating Qi and Strengthening Spleen," and we feel that name is no exaggeration or hyperbole.

Traditionally, Bai Zhu has been used to combat conditions of feebleness, but research today into Bai Zhu paints a picture of it as a strong anti-aging compound. Research shows Bai Zhu to be a strong antioxidant, to slow aging, and protect against cancer. Furthermore, Bai Zhu is important in regulating blood sugar, to increase liver health, improve immune function, and to promote red blood cell production (in all, increasing general youthfulness and preventing the developing of typical signs of premature aging).

Bai Zhu is often used to assist in weight loss through strengthening the Spleen and Pancreas, and subsequently increasing metabolism. Bai Zhu is thought to have an appetite normalizing effect, decreasing an overactive appetite and increasing an underactive appetite.

Of particular interest is the ability for Bai Zhu to eliminate dampness in the body. Many medications, including antibiotics, cause dampness in the body from a Classical Chinese Medicine viewpoint. This dampness silently depletes Qi from the body, causing a lack of overall vitality and a quickening of the general aging process. By eliminating this deep-seated dampness, the body is able to recover on its own.

Bai Zhu has been included in our TapRoot Deep Jing formula because of its ability to clear dampness from the body, allowing Qi to restore, and for its ability to build Jing.

Bu Gu Zhi Extract (10:1 Concentration)

From Fructus psoraleae

Fructus psoraleae Bu Gu Zhi

Fructus Psoraleae: To fully understand Fructus psoraleae as an herb and as a medicinal plant, we first must understand the etymology of the Chinese name of the plant, Bu Gu Zhi (also known as Buguzhi). This is a combination of three separate words: "Bu" means "to invigorate,” secondly “Gu” means "bone", and thirdly "Zhi" means "fat".

In Chinese, the name suggests that the function of the herb is to provide fat (rich materials) for invigorating the bones. In some classical Chinese medicine, and within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the bones are ruled by the Kidneys. Therefore, the herb was regarded by the ancient herbalists as being a good and rich source for invigorating the Kidney. As we know, the Kidney is where the Jing is housed, and the important Pre and Postnatal Qi. Through building and invigorating the Kidney, is it able to build and invigorate youthfulness and vitality in the body.

Fructus psoraleae (Bu Gu Zhi) invigorates the prime-minister fire (a healthy fire inside the Kidneys) and connects with the monarch fire (a healthy fire inside the heart). It warms the Dan Tian (generating Primordial Q), and strengthens Primordial Yang.

We have included Bu Gu Zhi for its ability to strengthen Qi, warm the Dan Tian, and restore Jing.

TapRoot is intended for those that are overworked, burnt out, feeling the effects of loss of vitality and premature aging, loss of drive (including libido), and are interested in increasing base wellness (Qi and Jing) to overcome these symptoms and to restore vitality. TapRoot is a tonic for both women and men and has quickly been becoming a customer favorite. We are pleased and e

Taproot so far

It's early days, one week to be exact. I've started on Taproot combined with Pine Pollen + Nettle tincture. I'm already feeling more energy for longer into the day.

Wow!!! Worth it.

I have suffered from intense night sweats for 4 years. I have used TCM tea pills for many, many years with varying degrees of success. I’m sure I have spent hundreds if not at least a $1,000 trying to deal with fatigue, night sweats and several other symptoms but nothing has worked as quickly as the Tap Root formula. I am also taking the Twelve Rivers formula and after 2 days of drinking tea from these night sweats!!!!! Yes, finally!!!

This is an excellent product. It has an incredible stabilizing and renewing effect for men I believe is unmatched. My physical and mental energy levels have greatly increased with a very calming and contemplative effect. I am a student and I need the sustainable energy without side effects. This is not an infomercial - I strongly recommend it. The only real way to understand what I am saying is to experience it yourself.

This product does what it claims to do. It is a strong medicine for Vitality. I feel a powerful energy to accomplish and set goals when I take it regularly. Your body knows when you are giving it something it is missing. If you are missing that extra oomph in your life, you need this. Great product, as always!

No need for coffee

I have my taproot every day between when I wake up and eat breakfast, and honestly I do not notice that much right away. Be forewarned you may be the same. By by afternoon I am still going strong and feeling balanced and that's when you think, "Oh yeah, taproot." And I wake up refreshed each day. I have been using this since it came out and still use it now.

Profound restoration and clearing of heat!

This is a treasure, one of the few STRENGTHENING formulas I have ever seen/used; this is one company that knows what they're doing and I would sincerely wish everyone educated themselves on it and did NOT pass it up! I used this for 3 weeks straight, twice a day, and still have about a fifth left (which goes a LONG way)! From the first use I felt deep relaxation and clearing, very light and I could feel a DEEP nourishment happening (for anyone anxious about not getting noticeable results). I'd recommend it on as empty a stomach as possible and in larger amounts/more frequent doses if you are new to such formulas, although TIME is key; a little over time goes a long way and IS the better choice. I've had some issues resolved and have regained ACCESS to my deeper vitality and have also had a great deal of it replenished with this! It's delicious and goes great in gynostemma tea and with camellia sinensis pollen powder; try it! I hope to always have some on stand-by!

Gives You Your Life Back

I had been through several cycles of severe burnout that affected me physically, and worse, mentally. I have tried close to $1,000 worth of products from Raw Forest, Tap Root has been by far the best at addressing this problem. I wake up naturally and fall asleep naturally. It reduced my caffeine and other stimulant use by 80%. I actually enjoy my coffee now instead of needing it immediately in the am and throughout the day. The natural reduction in caffeine dependence with no side effects or headaches is a massive benefit not to be understated. I am in a better mood, feel like working out again, and I don't feel apathetic about my massive workload. I'm sure this stuff is helping out my body too, but for me the mental changes are by far the biggest benefit. This, in conjunction with Pine Pollen and Camellia Pollen is really helping me. Thank you Raw Forest for creating Tap Root and please never stop making it. Seriously. Keep making this stuff.
